This individual assignment is a written analysis of India’s negotiation proposals at the WTO’s Doha Round of Negotiations.
Content Requirements:
1.Using the proposal documents below, summarize India’s main negotiating position in each of the areas of: (1) agriculture; (2) non-agricultural market access; (3) trade in services; and (4) trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights (TRIPS). Your summary must interpret and explain India’s position—not merely reproduce its proposals;
2. Assess the welfare impacts implied by India’s proposals in each of the four areas of negotiation. Would the proposals make India better off? In the short run? In the long run? Explain your answers;
3. What changes would you recommend that India make to its negotiating position. Explain the reasons for your recommendations, with close consideration of welfare impacts.
