Bob, age 47 and his wife, Mary, age 45, as well as their three children, Sue, age 17, Joe, age 14, and Joey, age 5 came to see you because Joe, their 14 year old is disrespectful to his mother. During the intake session you learn that Sue and her mother have enmeshed boundaries and this has caused discord in Bob and Mary’s marriage. Bob remains at work and comes home after the children and his wife are asleep. You also learn that Joe has a conflicted relationship with his sister, Sue, age 17 and that Sue has been skipping school. Joey, the 5 year old, sits quietly in his chair playing with a toy car, no one interacts with him.
