After I graduate as a FNP, I look forward to starting my own practice where I will be taking care of people in the remote rural settings. My specialty is in HIV/AIDS and I hope I will provide care to these patients with an aim to improve their quality of life. I hope to also participate on campaigns to sensitize the community to the necessity of knowing their health status and prevention measures for the uninfected population. Currently, I practice in a correctional facility where testing for communicable diseases is mandatory and I have noted a rise in the number of those infected. Most of the inmate population did not know their status until when they were incarcerate.
Knowing of status enables the providers to educate the patients on how to improve their quality of life and avoid reinfection.
